High winds hitting Lake Mead today
March 30, 2009 - 9:54 am
Boaters and those near Lake Mead today can expect strong winds to affect their day, while those in the Las Vegas Valley will get a reprieve from the gusty conditions experienced over the weekend, the National Weather Service in Las Vegas said.
A lake wind advisory was issued from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today in areas south of Boulder Dam as winds up to 40 mph reach the area.
In Arizona, a Red Flag Advisory is in effect through Tuesday as any fire could quickly spread under these dry and windy conditions.
Las Vegas is expected to see temperatures in the mid-60s and gusts tapering down between 10 and 15 mph throughout the day.
