I-15/Beltway ramp closed due to diesel spill

The southbound Interstate 15 ramp to the eastbound Las Vegas Beltway was closed due to a diesel fuel spill early this morning, Nevada Highway Patrol officials said.

Trooper Alan Davidson said 150 gallons of fuel spilled on the road about 2:30 a.m., causing several minor accidents, including one involving a Highway Patrol trooper.

"Nothing serious," said Davidson.

Environmental crews were dousing the area with dirt and other absorbent material this morning. The ramp is expected to remain closed for several hours, he said.

The fuel, mixed with rainwater, has created extremely unsafe conditions, he said.

"It’s like an ice-skating rink out there."
