Illegal drugs found in Stiles’ hide-out
Las Vegas police discovered illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia in the apartment where Chester Arthur Stiles, accused of sexually assaulting a 2-year-old girl, was reported to have hidden during a nationwide manhunt for him a month ago, according to Clark County court documents.
An inventory of property seized by police in the search of unit D1045 at 4855 Boulder Highway included a bag of what was believed to be cocaine, 36 OxyContin tablets, a digital scale, two glass pipes, and some video and photo equipment, the search warrant said.
The drugs and paraphernalia were found by a security manager at the weekly apartment complex. Stiles was staying there under the alias "Bill Richardson," according to the search warrant. He also stayed at the Tod Motor Hotel under the same alias, the warrant said.
Stiles is accused of videotaping himself sexually assaulting the Las Vegas toddler. The 37-year-old was the subject of a national manhunt after the tape was turned over to Nye County authorities in late September. He was caught Oct. 15 during a traffic stop by Henderson police.
Police have not charged Stiles with breaking any drug laws, said police spokesman officer Bill Cassell.
Stiles faces numerous counts of sexual assault, lewdness with a minor under age 14 and battery. He remains in the Clark County Detention Center.
