POSSESSION OF IMAGES
Former Clinton official punished for child porn
Wade Sanders, a former deputy assistant secretary of the Navy in the Clinton administration, was sentenced Monday to three years and one month in federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing hundreds of images of child pornography.
Prosecutors in San Diego recommended a sentence of 63 months, but Sanders' attorney sought probation, arguing that Sanders suffered obsessive-compulsive disorder linked to post-traumatic stress disorder from his service in Vietnam.
The U.S. attorney's office recommended Sanders, 69, be sent to a facility for sex offenders whose crimes didn't include contact with victims.
