Man appears in court in binding of toddlers
Jonathan Weaver, the 20-year-old man who is alleged to have bound and gagged two toddlers in a south valley apartment garage earlier this week, had his first court appearance Friday.
Weaver appeared in District Court Friday morning and received a court-appointed attorney. His preliminary hearing was scheduled for June 26 and a bail hearing was set for Tuesday.
Weaver is being held without bail on charges of child abuse and neglect, kidnapping and attempted murder. The children involved were his girlfriend's sons, ages 1 and 2.

Person of interest sought in slaying
Las Vegas police are looking for a Las Vegas man who may be linked to the death of a 24-year-old North Las Vegas man whose body was found Tuesday in the northwest valley.
Authorities have identified a person of interest, 23-year-old Dwayne Ray Jones, in the slaying of Wyatt Marcell King.
King's body was discovered around 6 a.m. Tuesday on the 3800 block of Aspen Cove Street, near Alexander Road and the Las Vegas Beltway.
The Clark County coroner's office ruled King died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Las Vegas man killed in motorcycle crash
A 35-year-old Las Vegas man died early Friday when he lost control of his motorcycle on Dean Martin Drive near Tropicana Avenue.
Carey McCarter was riding a 1991 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on Dean Martin around 12:45 a.m. when he struck the center median and slid into a nearby parking lot.
McCarter was taken to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing.

Police say cyclist killed after improper turn
The 49-year-old bicyclist who was killed when he made a right turn in front of a pickup on Thursday has been identified as Timothy Robert Mortenson of Las Vegas.
Las Vegas police said Mortenson made an improper turn when he made a right onto eastbound Charleston Boulevard from northbound Westwood Drive in front of a lifted Ford F-250.
The driver of the high-riding Ford, 54-year-old Jose Quintanilla of Henderson, couldn't see the bicyclist because his truck was lifted, police said.
Mortenson was pronounced dead at the scene of the 2:30 p.m. accident.
FRIEND FOUND BODIES
Second man identified in double homicide
The second victim in a double homicide in an apartment complex Monday has been identified as 25-year-old Brian Donald Hudson of Las Vegas.
Hudson and his roommate, 26-year-old Paul Alexander Stephens, were found dead from multiple gunshot wounds in a unit at the Polo Club apartments at 4201 S. Decatur Blvd., near Flamingo Road.
Police have not made any arrests in the slayings.
Lt. Lew Roberts said the victims might have been dead for up to 24 hours before their bodies were discovered by a friend who went to the apartment to check on their welfare.
