Fatal LV shooting called drug-related

A drug-related shooting near the Boulevard Mall left one man dead, Las Vegas police said.

Gunfire broke out at 1:20 a.m. Friday on the 1000 block of Sierra Vista Avenue, near Maryland Parkway. Officers arrived and found a man in his late 20s suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died. His name was not immediately released.

Witnesses told investigators the shooting was drug-related.

Hit-and-run victim is Kevin Fischer, 49

A pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run crash early Thursday was identified as Kevin Fischer.

The 49-year-old from Las Vegas died after a car ran up the sidewalk about 1:05 a.m. and hit him on the 2700 block of E. Flamingo Road, near Eastern Avenue, police said.

The vehicle left the scene.

ROLLOVER DEATH

Woman killed in SUV rollover near Pahrump

A Pahrump woman was killed Friday morning when her sport-utility vehicle rolled off the highway outside Pahrump, the Highway Patrol said.

Michelle Payton, 41, died at the scene of the 4:40 a.m. crash off state Route 160 about 60 miles from Las Vegas, Trooper Kevin Honea said.

She lost control of the vehicle when she swerved to avoid a plastic chair and spun onto the shoulder and flipped. Payton, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the SUV, Honea said.

A 41-year-old male passenger also did not have a seat belt on, but remained in the vehicle. The man was taken to Nye Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
