Couple who died in crash identified

The two people killed in a car accident on the strip Friday were identified as Joan and Roy Gary Sayerstad of Orange, Calif.

Roy Gary Sayerstad, 61, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, was trying to make a left turn off Four Seasons Drive onto southbound Las Vegas Boulevard when he collided with a 2004 Dodge Ram, according to Las Vegas police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, Joan Sayerstad, 44, was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center where she succumbed from her injuries.

The driver of the truck, Michael Burton, 40, of Las Vegas had minor injuries.

The accident remained under investigation.

Man arrested in death of 7-month-old girl

A 7-month-old girl from Desert Hills, Ariz., died Monday night, and her grandmother's boyfriend is under arrest for suspicion of aggravated assault and child abuse, officials in Kingman, Ariz., said.

The Mohave County sheriff's office said a murder charge could be added pending completion of an autopsy and case review by the county attorney's office.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter said investigators believe that Glenn Michael Peralta, 31, harmed the baby girl.

Deputies responded to a child abuse report Sunday morning.

The baby, Dakota Harryman, was transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center for treatment of a head injury.

Carter said Dakota was airlifted to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas where she died late Monday night.
