Suspect in fatal beating arrested

Police said they arrested a 24-year-old man early Wednesday after they caught him coming out of a North Las Vegas home where a 22-year-old man was beaten to death.

Police said Allen Heusner was leaving the house in the 4900 block of Country Breeze Court, near Craig Road and Decatur Boulevard. The home's owner told police that Heusner, who is her ex-husband, broke into the house and attacked the victim. She escaped the house during the attack and called police.

Heusner was booked into the North Las Vegas jail on multiple charges, including murder with a deadly weapon.

WARM SPRINGS ROAD

Bridge over I-15 reopens after repairs

The Warm Springs Road bridge over Interstate 15 was reopened to traffic Wednesday after repair work was completed two days ahead of schedule.

All lanes on the bridge and on I-15 beneath it were returned to normal around 1 a.m., according to the Nevada Department of Transportation. Engineers had been working on the span since Monday night to repair a support damaged in a May 21 truck crash.

The $148,595 repair job will be billed to the company insuring the truck at fault.
