Indian Springs Water Co. asks state to allow rate increase
February 13, 2009 - 10:00 pm
Indian Springs Water Co., which serves the similarly named community located northwest of Las Vegas, is asking state regulators to increase rates to offset increased operating expenses, maintain their profits and ensure the company's viability.
If the Public Utilities Commission approves the rate increase as filed, the monthly charge for standard residential service would jump to $23 a month from $14.75. The volume charge would increase to $1.20 per thousand gallons from 69 cents for up to 7,000 gallons. For more than 7,000 but less than 45,000 gallons, the charge would be $1.90 per thousand gallons.
Customers of Indian Springs Water are invited to a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Indian Springs Community Center, 719 W. Gretta Lane.
The commission scheduled a hearing at its office on April 1 in Carson City.
