Lake defeats Hosea in Clark County Commission District C race
June 13, 2012 - 12:59 am
Businessman Craig Lake easily defeated fellow Republican Gary Hosea late Tuesday in the race for the Clark County Commission in District C.
With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Lake had received 79 percent of the votes.
He will face incumbent Larry Brown in the November election.
"Definitely, a good night," Lake said as the results were coming in.
He credited an aggressive campaign and voters who, he said, wanted someone in office who hadn't been in office before. Lake's only political experience is losing a 1st Congressional District race in 2010 to incumbent Shelley Berkley.
"I think voters want someone who isn't part of the political scene," he said.
Lake founded Rise & Shine Lighting, a small lighting company, in 2003.
If elected, he has said his top priorities would be to make the county "a business-friendly environment," and eliminate wasteful spending while ensuring essential county services are still provided.
In addition to facing Brown in the Nov. 6 general election, Lake will compete against Independent American Party challenger Brad Lee Barnhill.
