Lake Tahoe water taxi begins operation Friday on north shore

RENO - Visitors to Lake Tahoe's north shore will have a new option for getting around starting Friday.

The North Tahoe Water Shuttle will make regular stops at four docking areas: West Shore Cafe, Tahoe City Marina, GarWoods Grill and Pier and the Tahoe Vista Recreation Area.

A 30-foot vessel will be able to carry 12 passengers and up to eight bicycles.

The service will operate daily from 8 a.m. to 8:19 p.m. through Aug. 26 and until 6:46 p.m. through the end of September. Rates begin at $10 for adults and $7 for children up to 12 years old.

The pilot program is sponsored by the Tahoe Transportation District with the help of public and private funding.
