Las Vegas police investigating string of robberies near the Strip
Las Vegas police are investigating what they say are a string of connected robberies and a car theft that happened near the Strip early Thursday morning.
Investigators are still piecing together details but believe the same robber could be involved in at least three robberies.
Shortly after midnight, police received reports of a robbery in the 200 block of Boston Avenue, just west of the Stratosphere. About an hour later, they were called to another robbery outside the Stratosphere.
Descriptions of the robber were the same in each case, according to police spokeswoman Laura Meltzer. She could not provide details on what the robber looked like or what was stolen.
A third robbery was reported at 7:24 a.m. at a convenience store near Koval Lane and Tropicana Avenue, just east of the MGM Grand. It is unclear where the crime happened, but the person who was robbed told a convenience store employee who called police.
Meltzer said police also combed the MGM Grand parking garage for a stolen vehicle. The garage was closed between 8 a.m. and 9:15 a.m.
Meltzer said police will give descriptions of the robber and stolen vehicle when they become available.
