Local sports bettor donates funeral funds for Drai’s shooting victim

A local good Samaritan is stepping up to help fund the funeral for Kenneth Brown, the man killed Monday at Drai’s nightclub inside Bally’s while trying to disarm a man police say shot two security guards.

Dave Oancea, a well-known local sports bettor, saw a Facebook post on friend Joe Vargas’ page that piqued his interest in the situation. When he heard that Brown’s family was having trouble raising the money to pay for the funeral, Oancea quickly decided to help out.

Oancea told Brown’s mother, Norma Sattiewhite, on Thursday that he is going to donate $5,000 to Brown’s memorial fund at Bank of America.

“I appreciate it so much. I just don’t know what to say. I just get so overwhelmed,” Sattiewhite siad. “Everyone’s not bad in this world.”
