Longtime television host takes charge of North Las Vegas communications

Longtime area television host Mitch Fox has been named public information officer for the city of North Las Vegas.

Fox, who announced his departure from Vegas PBS’ “Nevada Week in Review” early this month, will take over the financially beleaguered city’s communications department effective immediately.

Officials say he was “specifically recruited” for the job, which was not opened to the public.

“Mitch Fox brings a wealth of knowledge and years of experience to the City,” said Mayor John Lee. “His standing in our community and impeccable reputation will serve us well, and further demonstrates the high level of talent our new team is attracting.”

Fox is set to earn $125,000 in his role as city spokesman.

He replaces departed city spokeswoman Juliet Casey, who left the city for B&P Public Relations in January.

Casey was paid about $75,000 to serve as city spokeswoman in 2012.
