Man arrested in teen girl’s shooting death

A Las Vegas man has been arrested in the Sunday morning slaying of a teenage girl at a northeast valley house party, according to Las Vegas police.

Alexander Nestor Portillo, 19, was arrested in the shooting death of 17-year-old Priscilla Castillo-Roque.

According to Portillo's arrest report, officers were called to a home on Clancy Street, near Nellis Boulevard and Carey Avenue. When authorities arrived at the residence, they found Castillo-Roque near the front entrance with a single gunshot wound to her head. She was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead, the report states.

Witnesses told police that there had been a birthday party at the residence that night. When a fight began outside, Portillo, who lived at the home with his family, fired a shotgun into the air to attempt to end the fight, the report states.

Portillo returned inside the home and went to his upstairs bedroom, which is directly above the entrance, the report states. While in the bedroom, he fired the shotgun a second time, blasting a hole into the floor, according to witness accounts. Castillo-Roque, who was directly underneath Portillo's bedroom, was struck in the top of the head, the report states.

According to the report, Portillo fled the house with a shotgun and a box of money. He was later located by police hiding at a residence on Rita Circle, about a mile from his house.

Police found two boxes of shotgun ammunition in Portillo's room, along with marijuana, scales and bags, the report states.

During an interview with police, Portillo declined to speak with detectives and appeared annoyed at the questions, the report states. He was arrested on charges of murder with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm in a structure, unlawful possession of a firearm and discharging a weapon where a person might be endangered.
