Man dies of gunshot wound to stomach; suspect in custody

One man is dead and another is in custody following an early morning shooting today at the 9700 block of Running Rabbit Street, Las Vegas police said.

When officers responded to the 2:47 a.m. call of a shooting outside a residence near El Capitan Way and Iron Mountain Road, they found the unidentified victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach. The man was taken to University Medical Center, where he died hours later.

Las Vegas police arrested 24-year-old Edward Jones in connection with the slaying. He was taken to the Clark County Detention Center and booked on charges of murder with use of a deadly weapon.

The victim was not identified by police as of this morning.

Authorities believe the shooting may have been prompted by a neighborhood traffic dispute.
