Man found guilty of shooting Las Vegas police officers

The 42-year-old man accused of shooting several police officers during a 2007 standoff was found guilty today of multiple counts of attempted murder, discharging a firearm and other charges.

A Clark County jury convicted Terry Dixon for the October 2007 shootout with police at the Paradise Park Apartments, near Twain Avenue and Paradise Road. Three officers were wounded during the shootout but survived. About 200 officers responded to the standoff.

Dixon's attorneys argued that he never meant to kill the officers but instead wanted to provoke them into shooting and killing him.

Prosecutors, however, said Dixon specifically shot at officers with the intent to kill them.
