Man sentenced to prison for shooting wife in head
A Las Vegas man who shot his estranged wife in the head while she held their 18-month-old child outside the Gold Spike in November 2008 was sentenced today to 16 to 40 years in prison.
Mauricio Solano, 25, pleaded guilty in September to attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon and child abuse and neglect.
Solano's ex-wife, Yeni Osorio, survived the shooting, but said during sentencing that she still suffers severe physical pain and mental anguish from the incident.
A prosecutor called it a miracle that she was still alive.
Before being sentenced, Solano apologized for what he had done.
