Man shot by police officer at apartment complex identified

The man shot in the leg by a police officer after getting into an altercation with a woman and a man at a west valley apartment was identified as 37-year-old Robert Mulidore, the Metropolitan Police Department said Thursday.

Police arrived at the Summerhill Pointe Apartments near Sahara Avenue and Fort Apache Road just before 2 p.m. Wednesday after receiving numerous 911 calls of a domestic disturbance.

Callers said they could hear a woman screaming for help and two men arguing over a gun, with one man threatening to kill the other, police said.

Police said the first officer to arrive ordered Mulidore to come out of his apartment and surrender, but the man left the apartment with a bat and moved toward another resident in a threatening manner.

The officer then fired three shots at Mulidore, striking him and causing him to fall to the ground, police said.

Police did not specify how many times Mulidore was struck by gunfire. Police also did not release the name of the officer who fired the shots, following department policy not to do so until 48 hours after such an incident.

A second officer then arrived at the scene, police said. As that officer approached, Mulidore stood up and tried to flee, police said. The second officer then fired a Taser, hitting Mulidore in the torso.

Mulidore was taken to University Medical Center. After he was released, he was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of attempted murder, assault on a police officer with use of a deadly weapon and resisting an officer with a weapon.
