Man, walking against light, fatally injured

A man was struck by a car and killed early Saturday morning at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Swenson Street.

Witnesses and evidence at the scene indicate that a 2007 Lincoln Town Car was headed west on Flamingo and the driver, Sharon Smith, 66, of Las Vegas, had a green light at the Swenson intersection, according to police. The pedestrian crossed Flamingo from the south side, against the light, and was hit by the car. He was taken to University Medical Center, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.

Police did not release the victim's identity Saturday, but said he was a 44-year-old man from Kansas City, Mo.
