Man who gave teen lethal drugs sentenced

A 20-year-old man who gave his teenage friend a lethal dose of heroin and Xanax was sentenced Tuesday to one to four years in prison for involuntary manslaughter.

Kody Kleckner originally was charged with second-degree murder for giving the drugs to Ian Nelson, 17, who died Nov. 23, 2009 at a home in the 1400 block of Arroyo Verde Drive, according to Henderson police. Kleckner pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter on Aug. 3.

According to court documents, Kleckner discovered Nelson was dead and used a knife to cut lines in the teenager's wrist to make it appear as a suicide.

Kleckner's sentence will run concurrently with a four- to 10-year prison term he is already serving in two other burglary cases.
