Mayor Goodman endorses Harry Reid

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, a Democrat-turned-independent, on Saturday endorsed Sen. Harry Reid for re-election.

Goodman's backing for Reid, the Democratic leader of the Senate, comes as no surprise.

The endorsement came as the two men toured downtown Las Vegas to point out several projects that received some federal funding, including a new city hall under construction.

"He is the point man to get things done" for Las Vegas, Goodman said of Reid.

Reid is being challenged by Republican Sharron Angle as he faces a difficult bid to win a fifth Senate term.

Earlier this year, Goodman changed his party registration when he was thinking about running for governor against Reid's son, Rory, a Democrat, and Republican Brian Sandoval.
