20-year-old from Fernley killed in Iraq

CARSON CITY -- A 20-year-old soldier from Fernley has been killed in Iraq.

Thomas Lyons died Tuesday when his convoy was hit by a rocket attack, relatives said.

Lyons was a military police officer stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska.

His wife, Delvin, an active-duty soldier also stationed there, gave birth to the couple's first son in May.

His mother and stepfather, Jeanna and John Flint, live in Fernley.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
