The U.S. Department of Defense is developing the next generation of armored vehicles that will be faster, more agile and highly automated.
The plan for the newer vehicles is to reduce weight by 50 percent and increase speed by 100 percent, making them more maneuverable than heavily armored tanks.
Development is expected to begin this year.
