The body of a California ranch hand who was reported missing over the weekend was recovered Tuesday from the Arizona side of the Colorado River.
The death of 23-year-old Jose Isabel Gutierrez is under investigation by the San Bernardino County sheriff's office.
Sheriff's Sgt. Tim Smith said Gutierrez's truck got stuck sometime Saturday on the river levee 500 yards from the Avi Resort Casino, about 10 miles south of Laughlin.
Smith said police think that rather than seeking help at the nearby casino, Gutierrez tried to walk about four miles to the Russell Brothers Ranch, where he worked.
Smith said the body was found about three miles from Gutierrez's abandoned vehicle. He said that Gutierrez was entangled in a fallen tree and that his body was recovered from about 11 feet of water.
