Mo-ped rider dies of injuries in NLV crash

A 52-year-old man who crashed a mo-ped into a light pole Thursday in North Las Vegas died Saturday from his injuries, and authorities are warning mo-ped riders to wear helmets.

North Las Vegas police received calls about the accident at Decatur Boulevard and Abbotwood Drive at 12:19 p.m. Thursday. The Las Vegas resident, whom police did not identify Saturday, was headed north on Decatur when his mo-ped left the road and hit a utility pole.

The man, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered head injuries. He died at University Medical Center. Police are still investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
