Mongol sentenced in Laughlin riot

A 28-year-old Mongol motorcycle club member was sentenced Thursday to two to five years in prison for his part in the deadly 2002 Laughlin River Run riot that left three people dead.

Pedro Martinez pleaded guilty in December to felony battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm in the shooting and wounding of a Hells Angels rival.

Under the terms of the agreement, Martinez could get out by summer because he has credit for 990 days he already has spent behind bars.

Martinez is the first of six current and former Mongols members sentenced after all took pleas to avoid trial.

Six Hells Angels members have been sentenced after pleading to reduced charges in state and federal court cases related to the Laughlin riot. The six will serve no more than 30 months in federal prison.

Prosecutors dropped charges against three dozen other Hells Angels members.
