More charges for 36-year-old man in Christmas crime spree

RENO -- Police say a 36-year-old Nevada man who admits torching a post office during a Christmas morning crime spree is facing additional charges in a shooting at a Sparks police station.

Justin Michael Bennett of Sparks was charged Wednesday with seven crimes in the police office shooting, including discharging a firearm from a vehicle and discharging a firearm into a structure. No one was injured.

Authorities told the Reno Gazette-Journal the police station shooting was the first in a string of crimes that included the fire at the U.S. Post Office in Verdi, shootings, threats and vandalism at Reno-area strip clubs.

Bennett was arrested Sunday by Reno police. He is expected to face federal charges in the Verdi post office fire.
