Mother, boyfriend arrested in death of 2-year-old boy

Phoenix police have arrested the mother of a 2-year-old boy and her boyfriend after the toddler died.

Phoenix police and fire personnel were called to a home Saturday night about a child who was not breathing. The boy, identified as Daniel Resendiz, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Detectives were called based on observations by hospital staff and statements by the mother.

Phoenix police said Walter Munoz, 24, was booked on charges of first-degree murder and child abuse, and the child's mother, Bianca Arce, 27, was booked on a child abuse charge.
