Motorcyclist in critical condition after crash in south Las Vegas Valley

A man is in critical condition after a crash in the south valley Friday night.

The Metropolitan Police Department responded to the crash involving a motorcycle and a Jeep about 4:10 p.m. Friday at the intersection of South Jones Boulevard and West Russell Road, Metro Lt. Grant Rogers said.

Police said the motorcycle rider, a 23-year-old man, was traveling south on Jones and ran a red light at the intersection when he was struck by the Jeep, which was turning left onto Russell.

The driver of the jeep stayed at the scene and did not show signs of impairment.

The motorcyclist was taken to University Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.
