10-year-old Ohio boy arrested in fatal shooting of stepmom, police say

CLEVELAND — Cleveland police say a 10-year-old boy has been arrested in the fatal shooting of his stepmother last month.

A police spokeswoman said Friday the boy’s father took him to the Cleveland police homicide unit where he was arrested and then detained at the Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) County Juvenile Detention Center.

Initial information released by police in late September listed the boy as a victim who wasn’t hurt in the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Shavonne Willis. She was shot multiple times and died at a hospital.

The shooting suspect was identified as a man in a black hooded sweat shirt.

Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia referred further questions about the case to Juvenile Court officials.
