Mohave County Recorder Meier dies

Mohave County Recorder Carol Meier died in Kingman, Arizona, on Thursday.

Meier, 68, had been in hospice care for undisclosed health challenges.

Meier served as recorder for a little more than seven years and was completing her second term of office. She had been a county employee for more than 24 years.

Her chief deputy recorder, Kristi Blair assumes leadership of the office.

Blair and county Voter Registration Supervisor Kim Stewart are running for the seat.

The recorder's office oversees recording, voter registration and early ballot functions. It also maintains pertinent public records involving transactions such as real estate, mining, personal property, mortgages, tax liens, leases, subdivision plats, official appointments of office, and other miscellaneous documents.
