Harry goes to a party

Harry Reid, second from right, and some pretenders.
Sen. Harry Reid is not a party guy, but at Judge Nancy Oesterle's recent retirement party he managed to get into the groove, posing with impersonators representing Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga and Kid Rock. (The real Lady Gaga and he have been known to Tweet together.)
Personally, I want to see the photo of the scene I described in my Saturday column of Harry and Landra Reid with the Elvis impersonator. The threesome, surrounded by a handful of security men, struck me as particularly funny and very Vegas.
In a second photo below, Oesterle, who doesn't retire as a Las Vegas justice of the peace until the end of the year, is the blonde sparkling in the center. The Blues Brothers flank, from left to right, her boyfriend Steve Dixon, Washoe County Judge Jan Berry and her husband, Dr. Dave Berry.
Judge Berry regaled the thousand or so guests with stories about Oesterle and how she always rolled with the punches, including the time a defendant released a box of cockroaches into the courtroom, causing Oestele to rule quickly and flee, calling over her shoulder "Call pest control!." Berry also teased Oesterle about her big hair and short skirts, two of Oesterle's most recognizable features in years gone by.
Berry, the funniest speaker of the evening, said her friend received "multiple marriage proposals from many criminal defendants. She confessed, she may have passed up a few good opportunities" before she was set up on a blind date with her boyfriend Steve Dixon, who after retirement is taking her to see Paris for the first time.
Obviously, a boyfriend with good taste.
