NLV offers incentives to clear cases

North Las Vegas's Municipal Court is offering get-out-of-jail-free cards next month.

Well, maybe not free. And they're more like don't-go-to-jail cards.

Those who have outstanding bench warrants from the court can avoid arrest by resolving their cases during a month-long moratorium on warrants April 1 through April 30.

The court is offering the moratorium in an effort to make a dent in its 40,000 open cases and collect some of the nearly $40 million in fees and fines from outstanding bench warrants.

Those with warrants issued in the court prior to April 1 are eligible to participate. The court, at 2332 Las Vegas Blvd., North, Suite 100, will be open in April from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Those with questions about their warrants can call 633-2929.
