NLV officer is no longer on the force
A North Las Vegas police officer arrested in July on six counts of felony credit card fraud no longer is an employee with the department.
Police said Benjamin Miles Cordova, 40, with the department for six years, no longer works for the department after an internal investigation concluded Thursday.
Police did not specify whether Cordova was fired or resigned. They said the results of the internal investigation wouldn't be released, saying it's a personnel matter.
In late July, Cordova was arrested by his own department on three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and three counts of receiving property obtained by unlawful use of a credit card.
The arrest followed a seven-day internal investigation after a complaint was filed regarding the disappearance of a department credit card.
The amount charged to the credit card was not released.
Cordova was placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation. He was the fourth North Las Vegas police officer to be arrested in an eight-month span.
In December, James Vernon Clayton, 40, was arrested on five counts of misconduct of a police officer, two counts of oppression under color of office and one count of open and gross lewdness in connection with the alleged coercion of women into performing sex acts to get out of traffic tickets.
In January, Mark Alan Miles and James F. Balelo, both 27, were arrested on charges of filing a false police report by a public officer, a gross misdemeanor. Miles was also charged with oppression under color of office, a felony.
Clayton, Miles and Balelo are no longer employed with North Las Vegas police.
