A 79-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Kingman, Ariz., on Wednesday.
Kingman police Lt. Rusty Cooper said the man was crossing Harrison Street near Beverly Avenue at 6 p.m. when he was hit by a 1995 GMC Yukon.
The man, whose name was withheld pending notification of kin, suffered massive blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at Kingman Regional Medical Center, he said.
The driver of the vehicle was not hurt.
"The victim was not using a crosswalk at a controlled intersection," Cooper said. "He had been crossing at mid-block, where lighting was dim."
Cooper said that alcohol was not involved and that there probably will be no charges or citations stemming from the incident.
