North Las Vegas court offers discount to debtors

The North Las Vegas Municipal Court is ready to make a deal.

Those who owe outstanding fees and fines associated with warrants issued in the city can get 50 percent off their bills if they pay up soon.

The court is offering the discount through June 30 in hopes of collecting nearly $40 million in outstanding fees and reducing the number of open cases.

"Given the tough economic times, we know people are struggling," Court Administrator Debbie Miller said. "We want to provide people an opportunity and make it easier for them to fulfill their obligations to the court."

Debtors must have met all other court requirements in their cases.

The court is asking those who owe outstanding fees to call 633-2929 to find out whether they are eligible for the discount.
