Obama cramming at Lake Las Vegas
October 1, 2012 - 1:07 am
The last time Lake Las Vegas garnered this much international attention was nine years ago, when Michael Jackson turned it into his hideout.
With the arrival of President Barack Obama on Sunday, Lake Las Vegas serves as Camp David West.
Obama arrived Sunday to spend part of three days cramming for his first debate with Mitt Romney.
Jackson reportedly spent months in a suite at the former Ritz-Carlton at Lake Las Vegas after creating a media circus on Nov. 20, 2003.
That was the day he returned from Santa Barbara, Calif., after posting $3 million bail following charges of child molestation.
Lake Las Vegas is the part-time home of Caesars Palace headliner Celine Dion and Nigel Lythgoe, producer of "American Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance."
FEELING BETTER, BEEBS?
A day after twice losing his dinner onstage, Justin Bieber risked a repeat by touring Eli Roth's Goretorium in Las Vegas.
Bieber and his girlfriend Selena Gomez were spotted Sunday at the over-the-top haunted house attraction that features bloody scenes and faux severed limbs.
Bieber opened his "Believe" tour on Saturday at the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Ariz.
He later tweeted, "And .Milk was a bad choice! Lol."
He was in Las Vegas for his Sunday tour stop at the MGM Grand.
NICE HEELS, LADY
Best cross-dressing line of the week?
During the premiere party of the CBS drama "Vegas," which is loosely based on former Clark County Sheriff Ralph Lamb, he told a story about a meeting between hotel developer Steve Wynn and screenwriter Nicolas Pileggi.
Best known for his screenwriting of mob classics "Goodfellas" and "Casino," Pileggi was collecting Lamb stories when he asked Wynn if Lamb was a modern-day Wyatt Earp.
Pileggi reported back to Lamb that Wynn's response was: "Lamb would put him in a dress and run him out of town."
The series airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on KLAS-TV, Channel 8.
