Officials reach deal to manage wild horses

RENO -- Federal land managers have signed agreements designed to improve the management of wild horses and burros in a large swath of land around where Nevada, California and Oregon meet.

Officials say the agreements will provide improved, coordinated management of the animals on U.S. Bureau of Land Management-owned lands in northwest Nevada, northeast California and south-central Oregon, and on U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service-managed lands within the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge in Nevada and the Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge in Oregon.
