GARDNERVILLE -- One of Douglas County's earlier residents and one of Nevada's first female attorneys has died. Sallie Springmeyer, who moved to Gardnerville in 1931 to obtain a divorce, was 104.
She met George Springmeyer, who handled her divorce case in 1931, and married him that year.
She died Sunday in the house she and her husband built nearly 70 years ago.
She attended the University of Southern California Law School where she earned a law degree. She joined the Nevada Bar in 1936.
The Springmeyers had one child, author Sally Springmeyer Zanjani, who is a professor emeritus of history at the University of Nevada, Reno.
