Special session could start Thursday, Nevada lawmaker says

One person is in critical condition after a Monday shooting near the Eastside Cannery, Las Vegas police said.

Dispatchers received calls about a person in the area needing emergency medical help about 1:30 p.m. near the 5400 block of East Harmon Avenue, near Boulder Highway, police said.

Arriving officers found the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. Police said the shooting followed an altercation.

The victim was taken to University Medical Center, police said.

A 65-year-old man slipped and fell to his death in the Guano Point area of the Hualapai Reservation near Grand Canyon West in Arizona on Thursday, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
