Pahrump man accused of throwing knives at deputies

The Nye County sheriff's office is recommending multiple charges against a suicidal Pahrump man who threw knives at deputies who responded to his home Thursday, officials said Friday.
Deputies responded to the home of Johnny Walker, 53, at 2:10 p.m. Thursday because they thought he had cut his wrists.
When the first deputy arrived at Walker's residence, Walker threw a knife at a patrol car that landed inches short of its front bumper, the sheriff's office said.
When the deputy exited the patrol car, Walker threw a second knife that struck a fence in front of the deputy, authorities said.
The sheriff's office said Walker then picked up a machete from a pile of machetes on his porch and told the deputy not to come any closer.
When second patrol unit arrived, Walker grabbed another knife and threw it toward the second deputy, authorities said. That knife also hit the fence.
The sheriff's office said deputies persuaded Walker to drop the machete and then took him to a hospital.
