Panel’s forum to focus on war veterans

A Department of Veterans Affairs advisory committee is to conduct a town hall meeting Wednesday night in Las Vegas.

The 7-9 p.m. meeting is to be in the Jewel Box Theater of the Las Vegas Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road, between Maryland Parkway and Eastern Avenue.

The event is to be an open forum, but the discussion will focus on veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families, a VA spokesman in Las Vegas said.

He said nine members of the Veterans Affairs Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom Advisory Committee will field comments from veterans, caretakers and survivors. The panel makes recommendations to department officials.
