Parents arrested in death of month-old baby boy

Police in Bullhead City, Ariz., arrested the parents of an infant boy who died Wednesday of severe injuries at a Las Vegas hospital. The 1-month-old baby also showed signs of sexual abuse, police said.
Staci Lynn Barbosa, 19, and Jonathan Edward Vandergriff, 23, were booked Tuesday into the Mohave County Jail and face charges that include child molestation, child abuse and aggravated assault. Emily Montague, spokeswoman for Bullhead City police, said homicide charges also are pending .
Montague said the infant’s mother took the victim to a Bullhead City hospital Tuesday.
“Police observed bruises and sores on the baby’s body, and his eyes were red and swollen shut,” Montague said. “Doctors informed detectives that the baby had broken ribs, a broken femur, was malnourished, dehydrated and showed signs of sexual abuse and shaken baby syndrome.”
The infant was airlifted to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, where he died
