Plea deal taken in killing

A 30-year-old man who was set to go to trial Monday for raping and murdering a woman in 2006 pleaded guilty Friday to spare himself the possibility of the death penalty.

Kahmuhh Eisenhour pleaded guilty to murder with a deadly weapon, sexual assault and kidnapping in the slaying of 51-year-old Sharon Sharpe. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 24.

Sharpe was found near death in the desert in May 2006 near the Hacienda hotel-casino and U.S. Highway 93 in Boulder City. She was discovered by a passing tour bus but died before she could be taken to a hospital.

Prosecutors sought the death penalty against Eisenhour because he had a history of sexual assault. In 1997, he pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault and burglary. He was sentenced to spend two to seven years for the sexual assault and one to four years for the burglary.

Eisenhour, who goes by the nicknames "Clumbsy" and "Creeper," was at the Hacienda on May 6, 2006.

According to a Las Vegas police report, at about 1:30 a.m. that morning, a woman told a security guard at the hotel that a man was following her. Before the security guard could stop the man, he left.

But several hours later, the security guard saw the man, later identified as Eisenhour, speaking with Sharpe, the report states. Sharpe, who lived in Boulder City and was gambling at the casino, cashed out and went to the bathroom. Eisenhour followed her in.

When he came out, the security guard told Eisenhour not to go into the women's bathroom again. Soon afterwards, Eisenhour and Sharpe left the casino together. Although the guard followed the couple out, he couldn't locate them.

About an hour later, the guard saw Eisenhour return to the casino to play slot machines.

That afternoon, Sharpe was found in the desert. She had been raped and hit over the head with a rock the size of a football, the report states.

She died soon after being found. Police took Eisenhour, who was staying at the Hacienda, into custody at the hotel.

Eisenhour told police that he had what started as consensual sex with Sharpe in the desert. Once she told him to stop, Eisenhour got up, tripped and fell to the ground, he told detectives.

When Sharpe went to help him up, she fell and hit her head on the rock, he told investigators.
