Police arrest 24 in home invasions, car thefts
Las Vegas police on Wednesday announced the arrests of 24 people suspected of involvement in an elaborate web of home invasions, car theft and auto burglaries.
The suspects sold more than $1 million worth of stolen cars and guns to seven undercover detectives, Lt. Dave Logue said.
"These are criminals who wake up each day looking for crimes of opportunity," he said.
Police bought more than 50 cars, 20 weapons ranging from handguns to AK-47s, and seized thousands of dollars of counterfeit money. The operation included the Secret Service and the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
Logue said the crimes occurred across the valley and in Southern California.
The suspects were arrested on charges including burglary, home invasion, forgery and robbery with a deadly weapon. Police are looking for 14 other suspects.
