Police continue search for hit-and-run driver in Halloween crash

Las Vegas police are issuing patrol officers hourly “Be on the lookout” bulletins for a hit-and-run driver who critically injured a 6-year-old girl Thursday night while she was trick or treating in the southwest valley.

Watch commander Lt. John Loretto on Friday said police are seeking a 2004 to 2008 silver Ford Focus. The four-door vehicle, possibly a hatchback, has black paint on the driver’s side.

The suspect is believed to be either a white or Hispanic man in his mid 20s with facial hair, Loretto said.

The girl, who was dressed as a pink Power Ranger for Halloween, was hit across the street from Kim Elementary School, which she attended, according to school employees.

She was hit on Peace Way near Tenaya Way about 7:35 p.m., police said. The girl remains in critical but stable condition at University Medical Center, police said.

Those with information about the crash are asked to call the Metropolitan Police Department’s Accident Investigation Section at 702-828-3128. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
