Police identify motorcyclist killed in collision with car

A 22-year-old motorcyclist died Tuesday night when he and another motorcycle rider who were traveling at a high rate of speed struck a 2004 Mercedes Benz C230K turning in front of them on Sahara Avenue at Edmond Street, according to Las Vegas police.

The Clark County coroner's office identified the man as Daniel Gonzalez of Las Vegas. He died of multiple blunt force injuries in what was ruled an accident.

The man was traveling west on Sahara about 8 p.m. on a 2006 Kawasaki ZX10R along with a 20-year-old man riding a 2007 Suzuki GSXR1000. Witnesses said the pair were doing wheelies.

The Mercedes, traveling east on Sahara, was struck by both motorcycles as it started to make a left turn on Edmond, police said.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other motorcycle rider was taken to University Medical Center after suffering critical injuries. He was not identified.
