Police investigate shooting on J Street in Las Vegas

Las Vegas police investigated a shooting in the central valley Friday afternoon.

The shooting happened in the 1900 block of J Street, near Lake Mead Boulevard.

Police did not disclose the exact location in the brief email they sent out, but Doolittle Park, Doolittle Community Center and the Andre Agassi Prep School are close by.

One person was taken to University Medical Center with a gunshot wound, police said, but the injury was not life-threatening.

Police were still investigating at 2 p.m. and had one person in custody at the scene.
