Police kill dog after attack at convenience store
LAS VEGAS — Police say officers shot and killed a stray dog after it attacked and hurt three people at a northwest Las Vegas convenience store.
Police Officer Barbara Morgan says two men and an 8-year-old girl were treated at a hospital for minor injuries after the 8 a.m. Tuesday incident at a store off North Buffalo Drive near U.S. 95.
Morgan says a store clerk summoned police after a man and his daughter climbed atop a car to escape the attacking animal, described as a pit bull.
Officers arrived to find three men inside the store trying to hold the animal down.
Morgan says the dog bit one of the men on the forearm before it was killed.
Morgan says the dog had no identifying tags or collar, but authorities were trying to locate its owner.
